So this is a little overdue but I’m finally writing up my experience on the ‘Styling Your Home’ Workshop run by the, oh so talented, Lisa Dawson and Dee Campling. Both these ladies have built a huge online presence simply by sharing and developing their personal style. They now both work with highly successful brands and have developed hashtags to allow connections to develop with likeminded interiors enthusiasts. Fully titled: STYLING YOUR HOME: FOUR STEPS TO NO RULES INTERIOR COOL, the workshop was run in the stunning Black Lion House.   Just walking in to the venue, creative juices were flowing. We…

Hi guys! After a crazy few weeks of decorating and holidaying I’m determined to get back to regular blogging! I’ve finally finished Ruby’s room after waiting for the new carpet to be installed so thought it was time I wrote about the update! Ruby is super creative herself and she set to work on Pinterest finding images of rooms she liked. She decided on a feature wall with geometric shapes and had a rough idea of colours but left me to make the final decisions while she went away with the Grandparents. I started by making out where the lines…

Hello! How long has it been?! Too long..my plan to post weekly has been thwarted already. Sometimes in life I think we can put too much pressure on ourselves and life just got in the way for a bit. The good thing about a break is that you return invigorated and brimming with ideas! Anywho, I’ll move on to the actual point of this blog post – the nearly teen’s room is complete! I’ve actually managed some photos of it before there are dirty clothes on the floor and the bed is made! A miracle to behold here! All…

I had written a long rambling post about decorating my ‘nearly’ teen’s room, I’m sure you’d rather see the products I chose with the scheme, so here it is. Simple, clear and hopefully bulls**t free! Style As bedrooms are cosy dens, especially in our teen years, dark walls help to create a restful space. Black was my preference and it was met with nervous nods, enough for me to go ahead. After seeing images of black walls in beautiful homes on Instagram such as these; @heatheryounguk   @kerrylockwood_   ..it gave me confidence to continue with my own ideas of…

Tackling THE MESS So this is the same before photo from my last post but I thought I’d add in again just to demonstrate what a state the shed was in! This was after I’d dismantled 3 shelves from the wall and cleared 6-7 boxes of ‘stuff’ out – mostly inherited when we moved in…ahem nearly two years ago – shameful but true. This has surely got to be the worst part of decorating; clearing, sorting, cleaning, prepping. Boring but necessary and strangely once it’s done, a sense of pleasant accomplishment sets in. Guidelines from the Mr So there were…

What is OSB? OSB (Oriented strand board) is much like chipboard in that is made up of flakes of wood and glue. It is cheap and can come in a variety of sizes due to the manmade structure. A happy find So we recently made the decision to turn our shed/workshop in to an outdoor office for the Mr. Here’s a less than glamorous before shot: After two full days of grappling with paddling pools, half full paint cans and numerous screws and nails we have finally cleared the space. Originally the thinking was to skim or cover the walls but…

Our new addition! Well the days of new babies are over in the Douglas household, or so I thought! We now have a new baby in the house, our fur baby is 8 week old puppy: Mabel. I couldn’t miss an opportunity to show her to you all so thought I’d round up a few of my favourite dog products so far on this new journey for us as a family. So firstly she needed a cosy bed. It needed to be a fairly low price, as there was a chance it could be chewed to pieces while she’s still young, so opted…

Money, money, money  Ah that old song always playing in my head when I’ve got some fabulous new interior ideas, but am limited by a budget. If you’ve moved into, or maybe have lived for a while, in a home that is tired, dated or just not your bag in terms of decor, but you’ve got a tiny amount of cash to play with, there are ways to change the space without spending a fortune! 1- Tile Paint Our kitchen tiles were a lovely bright shade of both blue and yellow – see below for a before pic – yikes! We…

Finally, after some initial hiccups the latest blog post is here! After working full time last week it just wasn’t happening and my plan was to get started on the garden room after all my planning in the previous post. However, having a very high ceiling requires a scaffolding tower so I had to pour my decorating eagerness in to a new project, the playroom/study was in my sights! Before…        So it has never been decorated and like much of the house featured a lovely orangey brown mahogany woodwork, along with two varying shades of dull green….

So, before decorating a room I think it’s so important to gather images of all the colours, some products and existing flooring etc, so that you can visualise the whole look. Our green room is a large, L-shaped room which is our dining area, but also a second living room. It’s the only room that really looks out on the garden and I love it, but it feels empty and cold, so I’m hoping by decorating the room will become warmer and more homely. The mood board… So here is the look I have in my mind. We already have…
