So this is a little overdue but I’m finally writing up my experience on the ‘Styling Your Home’ Workshop run by the, oh so talented, Lisa Dawson and Dee Campling. Both these ladies have built a huge online presence simply by sharing and developing their personal style. They now both work with highly successful brands and have developed hashtags to allow connections to develop with likeminded interiors enthusiasts.
Fully titled: STYLING YOUR HOME: FOUR STEPS TO NO RULES INTERIOR COOL, the workshop was run in the stunning Black Lion House. Just walking in to the venue, creative juices were flowing. We were allowed to wander and instantly my phone was out and I was happily snapping the beautiful rooms.
The course itself was just right for me. It confirmed my own theories about interior decor – there are no rules, go with your gut. It also gave me the chance to meet with other creatives/Instagrammers and general interiors enthusiasts.
There was a delicious lunch prepared by the hosts themselves and with nibbles, tea and coffee plus a glass of prosecco at the end of the day, we all felt well cared for and it added to the laid back, relaxed vibe of the day.
After lunch we completed a ‘Shelfie’ task in teams of three – we were in competition to create a vignette from items around the house. I must admit it was very different for me to have to negotiate with others on styling but we obviously managed to pull it together as we were declared the winners by Lisa and Dee – a unexpected bonus on the day!
I’m not going to give you too much detail about the course itself but I will say if, like me, you’ve hovered over the purchase button, CLICK IT NOW! It was so worth while and it has spurred me on when I have been in a bit of a creative rut lately.
Lisa and Dee were fantastic hosts, completely down to earth; open and honest about their own triumphs and failures.
To top it all off we recieved a wonderful selection of bits in our goody bag along with a fantastic list of contacts to use in future interior endeavours!
The key fact I took away from the course was to really value the items in your home and be ruthless if you don’t. Why have a piece of furniture, or anything else for that matter, that you don’t love; sell it and move on! Look out eBay, there could be a few items coming your way (and look away husband!).
This final photo has me itching to rip up my carpet on the stairs…I’ll keep you updated!
Until next time,
