So as a teacher of Art and a keen sewist, knitter, crocheter and weaver it will come as no surprise that I adore Textile Art. I’ve made weaves like the one above that hang in my home to add style and texture to a space.
It may seem that something hand made could look too much of a blast from the ‘shabby chic’ era, that many of us have tried to forget…However there are so many variations and fantastic independent makers and sellers out there, I’m sure there is one for everyone!
Here’s 5 Instagram accounts that belong to fantastic textile artists that are making and selling, right now!
@juniperweaves – Beautiful, natural collection. Her work is available on Etsy, or you could learn for yourself by attending one of her workshops in London.
@reformfibers – Fantastic step by step tutorials and guidance on macrame – so much inspiration here.
@little.feather.woven – Another Etsy seller with a great variation in textures and colours in her pieces.
@shophellochiqui – not only are her creations an inspiration, she sells the tools of the trade and encourages others to learn the craft.
@elizabethpawle – An amazing textile artist with a massive punch of colour in all her pieces.
I’m sure you’ll agree a fantastic group of textile artists with a huge contrast in the style of their work. There are, of course, many other forms of Textile Art out there, these are just some of my favourites for interiors. Their work is both beautiful and inspirational.
I am planning my own macrame piece, I will try and photograph as a step-by-step so you can see the (probably slow) progress I make!
Until next time, thanks for reading,
