I had written a long rambling post about decorating my ‘nearly’ teen’s room, I’m sure you’d rather see the products I chose with the scheme, so here it is. Simple, clear and hopefully bulls**t free!

Style

As bedrooms are cosy dens, especially in our teen years, dark walls help to create a restful space. Black was my preference and it was met with nervous nods, enough for me to go ahead. After seeing images of black walls in beautiful homes on Instagram such as these;

..it gave me confidence to continue with my own ideas of the space. If in doubt always take a look at what’s out there already, not to copy but to inspire your own creativity and give you confidence in those ideas.

Monochrome

As it was for a ‘youngster’, the softness against the dark tones did not seem as important and I decided on a harder monochrome scheme.

Bed

Ikea Brimnes double bed – £109

Mirror

Ikea Nissedal mirror – £15

Blinds

Ikea Tupplur blinds – £10 (price varies depending on blind size required)

Desk

Ikea Alex desk – £120

Prints

Both from Nickie Kelly SALE – Skull £9.50 Badass – £12.50

Lighting

This was an idea I’d seen on the internet ages ago and due to the fact there are no ceiling lights in this room I wanted wall lights that were fun and reasonably priced. I got the brackets from Ikea (no surprises there – literally my go-to every time!) and the lighting fixtures were an eBay find. Adding the vintage bulbs also added an industrial element.

Mini-mi – Carnival letter light SALE – £10

So I now have the task of getting the (nearly) teen to tidy/sort/dispose with a glove, the mess left from rearranging the room and then I will get a post of the finished room ASAP!

Thanks, for reading,
